Harutaka Ginza

On my way back from SF, I made a brief stopover in Tokyo for a couple of days of meetings. I was lucky to snag a last minute reservation at Harutaka, a very well-known sushi restaurant in the heart of Ginza.

Chef Harutaka is a disciple of Jiro Ono, considered by many the greatest sushi master in the world. Harutaka's sushi style conforms closely to his master's, and he shares the same level of dedication and pride in creating each sushi course by hand as you watch from behind the counter of this 10 seater restaurant.

The omakase course set me back Y21,000 but this is clearly the stuff sushi dreams are made of.

Gunther's, Purvis St, Singapore

If you go with a holder of the DBS Insignia card, you will get offered the exclusive Insignia Set Menu which includes their signature dishes like : the cold angel hair pasta with caviar, consommé with scallops, tenderloin with sweet corn, the apple tart with Havana rum ice cream and a coffee or tea. The menu includes a glass of Billecart Salmon champagne all for a low low price of $88! You can also order off their daily platter (which they will be glad to offer), but be warned that anything from there will cost you an arm and a leg. We ordered a lobster which was split amongst five as an Appetiser portion. V nice.

Kuriya Dining, Great Work City, Singapore

As the Niseko gang was still basking in the afterglow of our ski trip, P girl had a sake craving. So we went to to partake in some good Japanese food. As It turned out, it was the last day of the Hokkaido Crab promotion at Kuriya Dining at Great World City.

Of course we had to have it - awesome and appropriate!
